Multidisciplinary Competitions & Global Challenges

The division coordinates national and international multidisciplinary competitions to nurture holistic, future-ready graduates. By providing comprehensive guidance, training, and administrative support, the division empowers students to apply their knowledge, sharpen critical skills like innovation and teamwork, and benchmark their talents against global peers.

UM Hackathon × AEON360
The AEON360 × Universiti Malaya AI Hackathon, championed by Malaya AIR and CITRA with AEON360 as title sponsor, connects top academic talent to build real-world AI solutions across customer intelligence, SME empowerment, and social impact.
Scale: 30 teams (150 participants)
• Open to undergraduate and postgraduate students within Universiti Malaya
• Teams of 5 members; multidisciplinary compositions for participation condition
• Each team selects one of the three tracks at registration
• Shortlisting of registered teams may be conducted if demand exceeds capacity

UM Hackathon x AEON360
University Level Closed
UM Three Minute Thesis (UM3MT)
Developed by The University of Queensland in 2008, the 3 Minute Thesis (3MT) challenges PhD students to present their research impact to a non-specialist audience in just three minutes using a single static slide. The Universiti Malaya 3 Minute Thesis (UM3MT) serves as a university-level platform to enhance students' presentation skills, showcase their research, and promote a culture of knowledge sharing. Additionally, UM3MT acts as an annual selection process to choose UM's representatives for the National 3MT Competition held at USIM on July 8, 2026.

AWS National AI Competition
Develop an innovative solution that addresses a real-world challenge. Complete self-learning modules and build an AI application using AWS PartyRock.
Requirements: Form a team of 5. Top 5 teams will advance to the Amazon Bedrock stage.

Self-Learning Period: 28 August – 18 September 2026 (async, non-face-to-face)

AWS AI Learning System (AWS CendekiAwan)
Complete self-learning modules at your own pace and gain access to the Generative AI learning path. Receive a certification of completion upon finishing.
